How to Add Google Map / Imagery / Hybrid Layer to an ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS Map

This article teaches you how to add a Google map layer or other Google basemaps/layers to an ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS map.

  1. Open the ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer.
  2. On the Contents (dark) toolbar, click Add (the button with a plus icon).
  3. Click Tile layer.
  4. Open our layer preview application and click on the layer you want to add to your map.
  5. Copy the parameter values from the preview application and paste them to the corresponding input boxes at ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS (like in the following example):

  1. Finally, do one of the following:
  • Click Add to map to add the layer as an operational layer.
  • Click Use as basemap to use the layer as a basemap layer.
You can also use any of the layers on our categorized layer list to add to your map.
